ELI GOLDSWORTHY
Eli is following his dreams and studying film at NYU. It seems that finding his passion has helped him shed his brooding mystique. Part of his dream, though, is still back in Toronto. It’s been hard being away from Clare, but there’s always the underlying hope that it will someday work. With her cancer in remission and her plans to go to Columbia on the horizon, things actually seem possible for ‘Eclare’. But just like the narratives in the movies that Eli creates, it’s never really that simple.

The other big change on 1989 is that for the first time in years, there are no diss tracks dishing about Swift’s exes. A few of the songs are about her relationships and love life, but they’re mostly wistful and nostalgic, not finger-pointy or score-settling. “Different phases of your life have different levels of deep, traumatizing heartbreak,” Swift says. “And in this period of my life, my heart was not irreparably broken. So it’s not as boy-centric of an album, because my life hasn’t been boycentric.
